“The Diction for Singers German is very accessible and nicely organized into topics in the Table of Contents. Our Diction class is more focused as we work along with the homework tests and cover the chapter section by section. With these wonderful labs the students get a chance to hear the sounds of each example as many times as they want. They get to listen and record over and over again. It’s great for the teacher too, because I can go back and hear how they are progressing in specific sections, whether it’s mixed vowels, diphthongs or some other aspect of the chapter we covered in class. I can leave them written or my recorded notes giving them praise or constructive criticism. Thank you Diction for Singers for finally coming up with a wonderful tool for students and teachers of lyric diction!”

Practice, practice, practice makes perfect.

Our online listening labs allow diction professors to deepen their students’ engagement with interactive multimedia, freeing their time while giving students time to practice and absorb the lessons.

The labs are part of our integrated diction multimedia platform, a convenient and much-used set of integrated materials.

The labs are an online application that runs in an Internet browser, which means they can be accessed from anywhere. No CDs. No downloads.

The application allows students to listen to a coach, record their own voices, playback and compare voices, and re-record—over and over.

It also allows the teacher to listen to their progress and make aural or written comments on their students’ pronunciations. A professor can record his or her own voice, for instance, to ask a student to “round their lips more” for a given vowel in a given word, sounding it out for them, drawing out the differences—making the labs an extended interactive teaching tool.

The words in the labs are identical to the sample words in Diction for Singers, 2nd Ed for complete integration.

There are online labs for French, German, Italian, and Latin.
